[..] why not take all of me --

I love this painting by Janet Hill! The atmosphere, the colors, the natural look to the side, the lean to the wall - absolutely beautiful.
Other paintings by this author you can find here.

I'm the last mammoth in this everlasting freeze earth.

photo and info via My Modern Met
For the month of December, artist Dan McCarthy created this stunning glow-in-the-dark poster of the aurora borealis (or the northern lights).
It looks just breathtaking, don't you think?
And this strange little mammoth on the left gives some kind of loneliness to the whole - I remember this lithuanian song (she sings I'm the last mammoth in this everlasting freeze earth), when I look at it.

Christmas-waiting is here!

photo via Pinterest
I can't help, but wonder - are you already waiting for Christmas??
As for me, one month is a bit too early to wait, but this weekend Christkindlesmarkt, a Christmas fair, starts here, in Nuremberg!
So I can't help it, I must get some Christmas spirit inside :)! We are going here tonight and, of course, I'll share some photos afterwards!
Have a cosy weekend, my lovelies!

P. S. This guy is definately waiting for Christmas.
I think it is a piece with universal appeal and I’ll be happy if it makes people smile at Christmas time.

What a nice idea to share joy of Christmas!

dandelion wine.

Regine Ramseier, a German artist, had an idea to stop the time, to stop ever lasting changing and growing processes, so she carefully picked 2,000 dandelions in their cloud-like form and sprayed a gentle adhesive on them, as if it treating them with water from the fountain of youth. The dandelions were then transferred by car to a little white room where they were hung.
So lovely project of art! I'd love to stand in this room alone for a little while :).

P. S. Remember the book Dandelion wine written by Ray Bradbury? It stole my heart! It's the best book about the childhood I ever read - so sincere & somehow magic!

what makes a good photo great?

photo via Life
This article from Life.com is a very nice way to learn a bit about photography while analyzing great shots - have a look!
It has 8 galleries: lightning, portraits, the unseen eye, looking for heroes, great NFL pics, influences, composition, photographers at work and travel.
Influences is absolutely my favorite!

explore. dream. discover.

Have you heard about Google Art Project? I've found it last spring - it's such a wonderful way to use new technologies to explore art!
You can find more than 1,000 works of art there, like Vincent Van Gogh (one of my most beloved painters!) or Rembrandt (the second painting, "The return of prodigal son", I remember from my art classes, when I was at school. This painting is very very sensual, it somehow has a spirit that leaves a mark on my heart everytime I see it. Father is somehow shining with humility and forgiveness - it's amazing, how you can feel it.) paintings, you can explore the most famous galleries of the world, like Palace of Versailles, Tate Gallery in London, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and many others!
And what is more, you can save specific views of any of the artworks and build your own personalized collection! How amazing is that, ha? Comments can be added to each painting and the whole collection can then be shared with friends, family or on the web using the integrated goo.gl URL shortener.
Now that is something you must try!

P. S. a bit off topic: when I saw the poster of the new Woody Allen movie, I was absolutely in love with it - beautiful idea to use Vincent Van Gogh painting!

a stars death.

Incredibly beautiful animations by Texas photographer Ignacio Torres from his series Stellar.
This project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death. [...] Their movement serves as a visual metaphor to the spatial link we share with stars as well as their separateness through time.
Check it out, my lovelies!
