Although it's absolutely freezing outside, now I love to freeze, as long as I'm freezing in my lovely Lithuania, it's where my heart belongs and that's that:)

Although it's absolutely freezing outside, now I love to freeze, as long as I'm freezing in my lovely Lithuania, it's where my heart belongs and that's that:)
So today for Monday inspiration I want to share something really Lithuanian to celebrate my return.
The first thing that comes into my mind is a poem by one of my favorite Lithuanian writers, Paulius Širvys.
Of course it's Lithuanian, but I will try to translate it for you, I'm not really good at translating, so I have to say sorry in advance, because it's not my job, but it's so beautiful that I can not resist to share with you:)
Aš - beržas. / I'm a birch.
Lietuviškas beržas, / Lithuanian birch,
Išbridęs / Forded out
Iš pievų nakties, / From the night of meadows
Sustojau / I stopped
Ant mūšių / On the battles
Didžiausiojo kelio / Of the biggest road
Su plieno dalgiu / With a steel scythe
Ant peties. / On the shoulder.
Ir audrą, / And storm,
Ir giedrą, / And fine weather,
Ir viską praūžęs - / And everything I blew over -
Girdžiu aš / I hear
Tyliais vakarais, / In the quiet evenings
Kaip skleidžiasi / How set out
Naktys / The nights
Žalioj mėnesienoj / In the green moonlight
Baltųjų aušrų / Of white dawns
Pumpurais. / Buds.
Purienos - / The marsh
Kaip taurės / Like goblets
Auksinės / Gold
Sudužę - / Broken
Nukrito / Fell
Po kojom / Under the feet
Iš mano širdies. / From my heart.
Aš, viską praūžęs, / I, blew everything over,
Rūkais užsirūkęs, / Smoked with mists
Geriu / I drink
Žalių vynų / Of green wines
Nakties. / The night.
Geriu / I drink
Žalią tylą, / The green silence
Geriu / I drink
Žalią šilą. / The green pinewood
Geriu / I drink
Ir apsvaigęs / And I'm dizzy
Einu. / I go.
Negaila / I'm not pity for
Man aukso. / The gold
Negaila sidabro. / I'm not pity for silver.
Tik tų / Only those
Praūžtųjų dienų.. / Blew over days..
Bet... / But...
Ne viskas / Not everything
Išgerta. / Is drunk off
Ne viskas / Not everything
Pragerta. / Is drunk over
Aš didelius / I big
Lobius valdau. / Treasures posses.
Turiu / I have
Savo džiaugsmą. / My joy
Turiu / I have
Savo skausmą. / My pain.
Ateik, - / Come, -
Dovanosiu ir tau. / I will give as a present for you too.
Netinka / Doesn't suit
Tau auksas. / For you the gold.
Netinka / Doesn't suit
Sidabras. / The silver.
Nei žodžiai, / And words,
Saldumo pilni. / Full with sweetness.
Netikras / Not real
Čia auksas. / Here is gold.
Netikras / Not real
Sidabras. / Is the silver.
Ir deimantai tie - / And diamonds
Netikri. / are not real.
Bet skleisis / But will unfold
Dar naktys / Still the nights
Žalioj mėnesienoj / In the green moonlight
Baltųjų aušrų / Of white dawns
Pumpurais... / buds...
Ateik, - / Come, -
Apkabinsiu, / I will hug you
Į širdį priimsiu, / I will take you to my heart,
Papuošiu / I will beautify
Žvaigždėtais / Starry
Nakties auskarais. / Night's earnings.
Praeisi / You will go
Pro šalį, / By,
Kaip laimė / Like happiness
Praeina, - / Goes by, -
Nekeiksiu / I will not rail
Aš savo lemties - / My fate -
Aš - beržas. / I'm a birch.
Lietuviškas beržas / Lithuanian birch
Su plieno / With steel
Dalgiu / Scythe
Ant peties. / On the shoulder.

Poetry is always somehow heeling, don't you think? When I read it, it's like the cure for my heart - if I find a right poem that perfectly suits my emotions.
And today this one really does. I adore the way the words flow - in some lines is only one word, but it suits so wonderful in it!

Although it doesn't rhyme in English, I hope you got the emotion of the poem, which, in my opinion, is the most important.
Have an easy flowing week!
xoxo

P. S. For Lithuanian readers, I highly recommend the play Nutolę toliai (directed by Cezaris Graužinis), which was created according to the Paulius Širvys poems. I saw it and it was breathtaking!
Thanks for the translation! This is my favourite poem and I always read it to my German girlfriend... finally she'll be able to understand it :D
